We carry out landlord gas safety checks in Shifnal and the villages around it, across TF11. A Gas Safe registered engineer checks every gas appliance and flue in the property and gives you the record to pass to your tenants. Shifnal is ten minutes from our base in Telford.
Shifnal, and what we tend to find here
Shifnal is a small market town with a lot of period property in the middle of it and newer estates around the edges, and the two throw up completely different jobs. In the older houses off the Market Place and along the high street we see open flued appliances, chimneys serving gas fires, and boilers in places that made sense when they went in. On the newer estates it is almost always a modern combi in a kitchen or a utility, and the check is quick.
The one that catches landlords out in the older houses is the gas fire nobody uses. It is still an appliance you provide, so it still has to be checked, and a chimney that has not been swept or a vent that has been blocked up for draughts will show up on the check.
We also cover the villages around Shifnal on the same run, so if your property is out towards Sheriffhales, Ryton or Beckbury it is the same job to us.
What the law asks of you
The same four duties apply whether you let one cottage in Shifnal or a dozen properties across Shropshire.

Booking one
Shifnal is close enough to Telford that we can usually fit a certificate in without you waiting for a particular day. Tell us what appliances are in the property when you ring, especially if there is a gas fire or an older back boiler, and we will allow the right amount of time rather than turning up with half an hour booked for an hour of work.
