What we get called out for most
Most plumbing calls are not dramatic. A tap that will not stop dripping, a toilet that runs all night, a radiator that never gets warm, a patch of damp under the sink that has been there a fortnight. They are small jobs that get worse and more expensive the longer they sit.
The other half are the ones that cannot wait, and those are the ones where being local actually matters. A pipe that has let go under a floor does not care that a national company has a call centre open until nine.

Plumber or heating engineer, and why it matters
Plenty of plumbers cannot legally touch your boiler. Anything that involves gas has to be done by a Gas Safe registered engineer, by law, and that includes the boiler, the gas pipework and the flue.
We do both. That means a job that starts as a leak and turns out to be the boiler does not need a second firm and a second wait. It also means you are entitled to ask for the Gas Safe card and check it on the register before anyone starts. Ask us. Ask whoever you use.

For most jobs we can give you a price or a clear range on the phone once we know what we are dealing with. Where we genuinely cannot know until we see it, such as a leak inside a wall, we say that rather than guess.

We turn up when we said, we put sheets down, and we take the old parts away with us. If we find something else while we are there we tell you before we touch it, not after.

The price you agreed is the price, unless you asked us to do more. No call-out charge stacked on top of an hourly rate you did not know about.

Telford houses, and what that means for your heating
Telford is a new town, stitched together from Wellington, Oakengates, Dawley and Madeley, and most of the estates around Hollinswood, Randlay, Brookside, Sutton Hill and Stirchley went up within a couple of decades of each other. That has a practical consequence: a lot of houses here have heating systems of a similar age and layout, and they tend to reach the end of their lives at a similar time.
What we see most often across the town is a boiler in a kitchen or an airing cupboard that has done a couple of decades, microbore pipework that has silted up, and radiators that were sized for how the house was built rather than for how it has been extended since.
